WBAL 11 in Baltimore with the morning team of Theo Hayes and Jennifer Franciotti
Hats in the Belfry Fells Point manager Grayson Owen is also a frequent guest of television news. This year he hosted WBAL 11’s Mindy Basara and Jason Newton in the shop to talk hats and trends for this season.
“We have great relationships with these outlets, and the on-air personalities especially,” Keith explains. “They know that they can count on us – and our hats - to shine in the bright camera lights.” The appearances generally educate the audience on tips and guidelines for buying women’s dress hats, Kentucky Derby hats and men’s fedoras.
“The most important rule for television appearances is wear a hat!” Keith laughs. “Seriously, when I’m talking Kentucky Derby and Preakness on television, I meticulously search our current selection for just the right handmade straw fedora to go with my seersucker suit. Pro tip: Make sure you get to the dry cleaners in time, unlike my adventure this year.” Keith is always sure to bring an array of hats for everyone who may appear on-set for the segment. “I go to talk hats but - trust me - I know they are more excited to try on the beautiful hats I bring to the set!”
