Over 160 Years of Italian Craftsmanship

It's rare to find someone who doesn't know the name Borsalino, especially when the company has had well over a century and a half to perfect their art!

Started by Giuseppe Borsalino with the help of his older brother Lazzaro, the very first Borsalino hat is recorded to have been made on April 4th, 1857 in Alessandria, Italy. From there, Borsalino Hats pushed to be at the front of development in the finest felts and materials and the leading edge of fashion and design of their headwear. Such efforts had them rewarded with the Grand Prix award at the international 1900 Paris Exposition which pushed them onto the global stage as premium hat makers.

This newfound world-wide popularity brought Borsalino to Hollywood,  where their hats topped legendary stars like Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, to even Robert De Niro. Their slick fedora cuts were definitely iconic to any noir film, and in the day-to-day, found a faithful following for any gent or lady wanting to look their business best.

While it hasn't been family run since the late 1980s, it is run by Haeres Equita, a company that saw value in the deep roots set by the Borsalino family and maintains their manufactory with the classic equipment in Alessandria where even to this day, each Borsalino continues to be handmade, the company knowing and valuing the way human skill elevates the quality of a great hat.

In fact, it takes over 50 steps to produce a single felt hat, sometimes taking up to seven weeks of work and their straw hats upwards to 6 whole months due to the diligence and intricacy of working the material.

It's this dedication to their craft that makes us proud to offer our selection Borsalino hats, and we hope you enjoy partaking in their history with us!
